District ready for a new year of student riders, are you?

Managing school bus transportation can be a complicated task but is rewarding, knowing that close to a quarter of the student body in the school district are being provided with a means to get to school and in a safe and effective manner.

Since 2007, Comox Valley Schools has been contracting out school transportation services to First Student.

More than 2,000 students rely on one of the district's regular bus routes and an additional 50 special needs students receive door to door service every day throughout the school calendar year. That equates to 28.5 regular routes and eight special needs routes. For a complete list of the 2018-19 routes, visit our website here.

It takes a dedicated, well-coordinated team to make that all happen, from drivers and dispatchers to maintenance personnel. All First Student transportation team members have been and continue to make a positive impact on the lives of so many students in our region.

A new school year is on the horizon and, once again, students will be relying on the school bus services to get to and from school safety.

It's important to familiarize your children with safe riding rules and tips which we have updated and posted on our website here.

If you are new to the service and have a young rider about to  take a school bus for the very first time, visit the Busing Page on our website for all the latest information including registration, routes and more. Rest assured, your child is in very good hands!

If your child doesn't qualify for school bus services but still depends on local transportation to commute to/from school, refer to the Comox Valley BC Transit system for local bus route information, maps and schedules.

Happy riding!
