Comox Valley Schools has received close to $1 million in funding from the Government of British Columbia to create much-needed licensed childcare spaces on Denman Island.
As part of the new provincial program Childcare BC New Spaces Fund, the province is helping fund the creation of 22,000 licensed childcare spaces throughout the province.

Now entering its third year, the Ocean Literacy and Leadership Camp for secondary school female students enrolled in any BC school district is getting ahead of the wave of interest. This year, NIDES allows interested participants to pre-register to reserve a spot for the July 2020 course.

The District will reschedule the next series of public sessions on the school boundary consultation process into the new year to allow senior staff time to review input received from the community to date.

G.P. Vanier's Andrew Young was announced the winner of the 2019 Alex Trebek Medal for Geographic Literacy. Among other accomplishments, Young is piloting a new geographical sciences grade 11course with David Benton that focuses on the environmental sciences aspects of geography, as well as the impact of global climate change.
