Sandwick Technical School
Sandwick Technical School offers students in grade 10 to 12 the opportunity to spend one day per week, for 6 weeks, learning job readiness skills that employers are looking for. We have six students per day making concrete picnic tables and memorial benches, which we sell. This provides a real working experience as the students are making a product for the market place.Students also obtain the WHIMIS certificate, and fall arrest certificate while attending the program. Some students choose to return to Sandwick for an extended practicum where they take on a supervisory role, and/or obtain forklift training.
Bridge Build Project: Students came to Sandwick to demolition and reconstruct a bridge located in the Merville area. Students had the opportunity to work off site on the demolition of the bridge and then help reconstruct it both at Sandwick Technical school and at the bridge site. Lots of hands on experience as well as safety training.
