Please help your children start their day well by having them arrive at school prior to the beginning of instruction at 8:40 am. We recommend that students arrive between 8:30 and 8:39 am. If a child is not with their teacher by 8:40 they need to sign in at the office counter.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>School Visits<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Please come to the front door and contact the office for access to the school.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Picking Up Students<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Please inform the office if you are sending someone other than your regular contacts to pick up your children.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>When Children Are Ill<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In fairness to all, please do not send your child to school if he\/she has definite signs of ill health in the morning. Good health is necessary for effective learning.\u00a0 Students who become ill during the day are to go directly to their teacher or the office. Our policy is to send students who are ill home as soon as possible. Our practice will be to call parents and ask that the students be picked up. For this reason, it is important that parents keep work and emergency phone numbers current.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>School Closure<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the event of power failures, please listen to our local radio stations, 98.9 FM The Goat or 97.3 FM The Eagle, for information. This information will also be posted on the school district and school\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Snow Conditions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In case of overnight heavy snowfall, the School Board advises parents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To listen to The Goat (98.9 FM Courtenay), The Eagle (97.3 FM Courtenay), on school days during or after heavy snowfalls. Information is also posted on the school and district web sites.<\/li>\n<li>To have arrangements made for the care of children who cannot attend school because of closures or because the children have been sent home early. Parents who are unable to make alternative arrangements must advise the school that their children are to be kept in school until regular dismissal time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Arrival and Departure<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Walk wheeled transportation, please use the crosswalks. Bicycles should be locked in the racks and scooters and skateboards stored in the courtyard with teacher permission in the classroom. Students are required to wear helmets when riding to and from school. Students need to go directly home at the end of school dismissal.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>School Leaving<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Students may not leave the school premises during school hours without written permission. They need to sign out at the office.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Student Drop Off\/Pick Up<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Please note that staff parking is marked for drop off and pick up zones where students can wait for you. Please avoid stopping in other areas for student pick up.
