PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS (From NIC website)<\/h3>\n

<\/h2>\n

During the 24-week program, you will participate in enhanced Level 1 theoretical training, including lab work which enhances your learning of introductory electrical theory through the application of this new knowledge. You will learn how to correctly and safely use measuring instruments (meters), power supplies and other electrical equipment.<\/p>\n

While learning about electrical theory, you will learn how to safely and correctly use common hand and power tools, supplies, electrical components and devices, equipment and specialty tools in a manner that a Year 1 apprentice is expected to know when working in residential and light commercial construction.<\/p>\n

You will learn the interpretation of the latest edition of the Canadian Electrical Code and how these modern wiring techniques are being used in the residential and light commercial construction industries.<\/p>\n

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES<\/h3>\n

Employment opportunities for Construction and Electrician Red Seal tradespersons exist in residential; commercial and industrial electrical construction; electrical maintenance and service; industrial electrical and electronic process controls; HVAC systems maintenance and installation; marine electrical work; gas and electric utilities and others.<\/p>\n

Construction electricians install equipment and wiring in new housing, shopping centres, condominiums, townhouses, office buildings, schools, hospitals, factories, processing plants, mills, mines, manufacturing plants, sub stations, etc.<\/p>\n

Past graduates have worked for companies in town such as;
\n<\/strong>Apple Electric, Aiki Electric, Alborz Electric Inc, Drewry Electrical, Houle Electric Limited, JE Electrical Contracting, Jet Electric, Muchalat Construction<\/p>\n

APPRENTICESHIP DETAILS<\/h3>\n

A Construction Electrician apprentice must complete a four-year program including 6,000 workplace hours and 1,200 in-school hours of training completed in four levels of training, each for ten weeks. After completion and achievement of a passing grade, the apprentice will hold the B.C. Certificate of Apprenticeship, B.C. Certificate of Qualification, and the Inter provincial Standard Endorsement also known as Red Seal.<\/span><\/p>\n
