PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS (From NIC website)<\/h3>\n

The 28-week Welder Foundation Harmonized Certificate covers Level 1 and Level 2 apprenticeship technical training. On completion, you will write the ITA standardized level exam for a certificate of completion. Successful students will also receive an NIC Welder Foundation Harmonized\u00a0certificate.<\/p>\n

The Welder Foundation\u00a0Harmonized Certificate\u00a0prepares you for entry-level employment in industrial manufacturing, welding and fabrication shops. You will be introduced to a variety of welding techniques, layout and fabrication, basic metallurgy, drawing for welding and occupational skills.<\/p>\n

Following successful completion of this program and upon entering an apprenticeship, you will be eligible to receive technical training credit for Levels 1 and Level 2, plus 300 work-based hours toward your welding apprenticeship requirements.<\/p>\n

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES<\/h3>\n

As a welder, you can work for a metal fabrication company, a shipbuilding company, pulp and paper mills, iron and steel mills, machine manufacturing companies, oil and gas companies, coal mines and anywhere that specialty metal parts are required.<\/p>\n

Past graduates have worked for companies in town such as;
\n<\/strong>Courtenay Spring Welding Inc, D&D Services, Forbidden Alloy Products, Forbidden Mechanical, Imperial Welding Ltd, Ripple Rock Repairs<\/p>\n

APPRENTICESHIP DETAILS<\/h3>\n

A Welding apprentice must complete a three-year program including 4500 workplace hours and 720 in-school hours of training completed in three levels of training, each for eight to 11 weeks. After completion and achievement of a passing grade, the apprentice will hold the B.C. Certificate of Apprenticeship, B.C. Certificate of Qualification, and the Inter provincial Standard Endorsement also known as Red Seal.<\/span><\/p>\n
