Ancestry is determined through self-identification and includes Status, Non-Status, M\u00e9tis, or Inuit heritage, which may extend several generations in your family history. Participation in the program is voluntary.<\/p>\n<p>Our\u00a0<strong>Indigenous Education program<\/strong>\u00a0is an enhancement program supporting Indigenous students\u00a0<strong><u>in addition to<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0Highland\u2019s existing school programs such as Learning Support, Counselling, Advantage, Work Experience, and Youth and Family Program Worker\/Education Assistants, and ACES. We collaborate with other school and district programs and staff to meet the unique needs of Indigenous students.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Indigenous Education Team<\/strong>\u00a0at Highland fosters a sense of belonging, and academic success, provides cultural support, and encourages self-advocacy and leadership among Indigenous students.<\/p>\n<h3>The Indigenous Education Team at
