My name is Ineke Burritt, our Family ancestry is Interior Salish and comes from TLKemchEEn (Kumsheen) where the rivers meet, Lytton, B.C. in the Nlaka’pamux (Ing-khla-kap-muh) Nation as well as Portuguese, Dutch, English, German and Scottish.  I am third generation Victoria born and raised on my mother’s side, my father immigrated from Holland.  For the past 15 years my husband and I with our three daughters have called this beautiful unceded traditional territory of the Komox First Nations home.  Working in Indigenous Education is a new opportunity after Owning and Operating Learn as You Grow Family ChildCare for the past 17 years where I incorporated Indigenous Culture into my program.  I originally set out to become a teacher having completed two years of post secondary education toward my Bachelor of Education.  My goal in this new position is to enrich the lives of Indigenous students in culture, academics and social emotional.  Kw uk w scemxw (thank you)
