I am of Gwich’in heritage, with roots in the Northwest Territories, and I grew up on Vancouver Island.

I would like to acknowledge that we are working on the traditional unceded territory of the K’ómoks First Nation. It is a privilege and an honour to live and work on their lands.

I am excited to serve as an Indigenous Support Worker (ISW) at Nala’atsi School within the Indigenous Education Department of School District 71.

Lacrosse has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and it is my connection to my Indigenous identity. Known as the Creator’s Game, lacrosse comes from Indigenous peoples, and it taught me teamwork, respect, discipline, and what it means to belong to something bigger than yourself. I was fortunate to earn a scholarship to play college lacrosse in West Virginia, and I carry those lessons into my work with students.

I also bring experience as a behavioural interventionist, which has given me practical tools for supporting students with different needs, building trust, and meeting each child where they are. My time as a welder taught me patience and pride in doing things properly. I have always been drawn to history, philosophy, psychology, sociology, and anthropology, which shapes how I think about identity, community, and the stories we carry.

My approach is holistic, with a strong focus on the well-being of each child. I am dedicated to supporting students in line with the guidelines, protocols, and procedures of our school, and to helping create a safe, caring environment where every student feels valued and has the opportunity to succeed.

As an ISW, I am committed to a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for students, families, teachers, and the wider school community. I look forward to building positive relationships and strengthening the connections between school, family, culture, and community.

Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this important work. I am honoured to serve our students and communities.

Huy tseep q’u

(Thank you all)

["post-2034","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
