Born and raised here in the Comox Valley, Melanie has always appreciated being surrounded by our forests and water and loves to spend time swimming and exploring. \u00a0She has been an active member of the Kumugwe dancers for 14 years and seeks out any opportunities to immerse herself in her culture. Her background is in Indigenous studies from Malaspina University (VIU) completing the Arts one program. Most recently Melanie has had experience working in Parliament (House of Commons), as a constituency assistant. And at Ladders to Kindness where I helped both in the office and training.\u00a0 She is so grateful to have grown up on the land of the K\u2019omoks people, where She also has lineage, so she has felt grateful to grow up with relatives.
