Food Programs

*Please note: Grade 6/7 students are not allowed to go to the store or leave school campus. We have perfectly healthy and cheaper options at school for them.

The front door and the concession are open at 8:30. Breakfast is free for everyone. (e.g. yogurt, applesauce, fruit, cereal, etc.)

Please ensure that your child has a water bottle and brings it to school daily.

We know that a number of parents have been surprised by how quickly their child(ren) have gone through $20.00 at concession. Here is some of our pricing that I hope will give you an idea of how this happens.

Lunch entrée is $2.50 per serving, a serving of vegetables, mixed salad or veggies and dip is included in the $2.50. We also have juice boxes and/or water bottles for $0.50 each. Lunch entrees have a limit of two servings per student

Pizza is $2.50 per slice, and a mixed salad is included in the $2.50 cost. Juice boxes have a limit of 2 per student per day. Pizza has a limit of 3 slices per student, but this can quickly rack up to $7.50 or $8.00/lunch.

The best way to manage your student’s concession account would be for parents to either top them up regularly, or to email Tamara periodically to find out an updated balance ( laketrail@sd71.bc.ca ) Tamara sends out emails weekly to students who fall below $10 remaining on their account.

There are a number of ways to add money to a concession card.

  1. e-transfers – they can be sent to laketrail@sd71.bc.ca – it is important to write in the message area what the transaction is for, i.e. student’s name, lunch card.
  2. Bring money to the office and one of our administrative assistants will assist you.
  3. Send money with your child to pay in our office. (I suggest making sure they bring home the receipt)

4. If money is tight and you cannot afford a concession card or lunches, but would like us to provide food for your child, please contact Kyle Timms – Principal (Kyle.Timms@sd71.bc.ca) or Jessica Kerekes-Rinn- Counsellor (jessica.kerekesrinn@sd71.bc.ca) and we can help with the cost of lunches.

We are constantly looking for ways to improve, so if you have any ideas, please let us know.
