Isfeld Secondary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are honored to introduce ourselves as the Indigenous Learner Support Team at Mark R. Isfeld Secondary. Our goal is to support students and families through cultural connection, advocacy, and community building.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lena Murdock \u2013 Indigenous Support Worker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hello, my name is Lena Murdock, and I am proud to serve as an Indigenous Support Worker at Mark R. Isfeld Secondary. My first and foremost goal is to connect with our learners in meaningful and authentic ways. I\u2019ve already found some creative ways to begin building those relationships, and I\u2019m excited to continue deepening those connections as the year unfolds.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it\u2019s through one-on-one support, casual check-ins, or simply being a familiar face in the hallways, I\u2019m here to walk alongside students and families. Our space is always open\u2014a safe and welcoming place for students to drop in, connect, recharge, or just be.<br \/>\nPlease reach out anytime!<\/p>\n<p>Lena<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tyler Lowe \u2013 Indigenous Support Worker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ey Swayel, my name is Tyler Lowe. My ancestry is Coast Salish from the Xwch\u00edy\u00f2:m, Chow\u00e9thel, and Pil\u2019alt tribes, along with Scottish and British Roots. I am deeply grateful for my role as an ISW, where I strive to meet students where they are and provide a safe, supportive space for them to thrive. I place great value on building trusting relationships, uplifting students through challenges and transitions, celebrating their successes, and helping create a strong foundation of resources and support when it\u2019s needed most. I am Anishnaabe \u2013 Anishnaabe Kwe, and my clans are Wajask (Muskrat) and Migisi (Eagle).<\/p>\n<p>I come from Okekindawt-Dokis Bay in Ontario and have lived on the lands of the Pent\u0142atch, E\u2019ik\u02b7s\u0259n, and K&#8217;omoks (Sathloot &amp; Sasitla) for over 40 years. I honour my ancestry from the Anishnaabe-Ojibway, English, and French peoples. I am a mother of two and grandmother of four, whose roots also include the E\u2019ik\u02b7s\u0259n and the \u2018Namigis Kwakwaka\u2019wakw of Alert Bay.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1997, I\u2019ve worked in schools and now serve as part of the Ni\u2019 Noxsola (Knowledge Keeper Program) and as a Cultural Presenter in Indigenous Education. I am deeply grateful to work with our youth\u2014our future leaders\u2014during this time of reconnection and healing.<br \/>\nChi Miigwetch \u2013 All My Relations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Our Work Is Guided by Four Key Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Foster Indigenous students\u2019 sense of belonging, cultural identity, and self-esteem.<\/li>\n<li>Foster academic success of all Indigenous students.<\/li>\n<li>Foster awareness of First Nations, M\u00e9tis, and Inuit culture and teachings with all students.<\/li>\n<li>Foster Indigenous students\u2019 confidence in leadership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are here to support, listen, and advocate for you.
