Happy Friday!
We are looking forward to our Remembrance Day Assembly Monday Nov. 10 at 11 am. It will be a short assembly honouring the work of those that have served and continue to serve our country. A reminder that there is no school on November 11th.
Lock Down Drill: We have our first lock down drill practice on Wednesday Nov. 12 at 10:45. To learn more about lock down drills please follow the following link Lockdown Drills. During a lock down drill no one will be able to enter or exit the building.
PAC Meeting Nov. 12: We are looking forward to our next PAC meeting at 6:30 PM. We have a presentation regarding RESPs and DESPs.
Construction at Courtenay El: Unfortunately, the construction outside will be ongoing for a little while. The plan has evolved to include two separate concrete pours which means we can use the entry throughout.
Connections Time: Many classroom teachers held office hours to connect with families (Kindergarten early September). If you were able to participate and meet with your child’s teacher(s) can you please fill out the following quick survey (anonymous). Your feedback will help support us as we advocate again next year to run the program again.
Parent Teacher Conference: If you didn’t have time to connect, we are hosting a Parent/Teacher Conference Day on November 20th. No School for Students that day. Sign up info has been emailed. Please call the office if you have further questions.
Grade 4/5 Volleyball: Grade 4/5s Volleyball is at Royston Elementary Nov. 13 3:00-4:00.
From The Community School Society:

Upcoming Sessions:
BC Parks Nature Grant: Courtenay El in partnership with BC Parks will begin a project to add natural features to the school grounds. We are early in the process but look forward to hearing from our students about how we can improve our spaces. More information can be found here: https://bcparksfoundation.ca/updates/nature-parks/
Safe and Active Schools: We will be working with the city of Courtenay and a consulting group to look at active ways for students to get to school. Here is a site with more information:

Accessible and Parking at Courtenay El.: We only have 2 spaces in the staff lot for accessible parking. If you do not have an accessible pass do not use those spaces. Others need them. We are a community that needs to support each other. Also, please do not to park between the red cones (bus zone) or in the staff portion of the parking lot before or after school. There is a small lot for parents beside the alley, before entering the main staff area.
