Lena Murdock is of Métis ancestry, with roots in Southern Quebec, Germany, Denmark, and Slovakia. Born in Alberta and raised in Northern British Columbia, she developed a deep connection to nature early in life. A lifelong animal lover, Lena always has a story to share about one of the many critters she’s cared for.

She is deeply grateful to the Pentlatch, Ieeksun, Sahtloot, and Sasitla peoples for their enduring presence and stewardship of the land on which she lives as an uninvited guest. For the past 17 years, Lena has made her home on the territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, where the natural beauty and spirit of the land continue to inspire and ground her.

Lena finds joy in the ocean, the forest, salmon fishing, and especially swimming. She cherishes the opportunity to work with young learners in her community, viewing it as a true gift to walk alongside them in their educational journeys. She leads with intention and a commitment to equity, meeting each student where they are and striving to provide the support each individual learner needs.
