Hello! My name is Shawna, my Indigenous ancestry is Dene, from Fort Nelson BC, and I have European ancestry from Scotland, Ireland, England, and Sweden. I was born in Ottawa and moved to BC as a child, growing up in the Lower Mainland and making my way to Vancouver Island after high school.
I am excited to be a part of the Indigenous Education team at Puntledge Park. Prior to becoming an ISW, I studied marine biology and lead science-based education programs in Indigenous communities around the island. I love connecting with nature and you’ll likely find me at the beach or in the mountains. I am so grateful to live, learn, and adventure on the unceded traditional territory of the K’omoks People; the Pentlatch, Eiksan, Sahtloot and Sasitla.
