My name is Danielle Routley, I am one of the Indigenous Support Workers at Queneesh Elementary. My ancestry is Cree and Cherokee, my family is from Northern Alberta. I have been working in Indigenous Education on and off since 2006 while raising my two children. This is my third year working at Queneesh Elementary, I am beyond excited and grateful to be given this opportunity to be part of your child’s learning journey. With so many changes, and challenges I truly believe this is going to be a great year ahead!

Some of the services I provide include:

· Academic, personal, and cultural support for students

· Seventh Generation Club (lunch time group)

· Providing cultural activities and information

· Maintaining liaison with teachers, counsellors, administrators, Aboriginal students and their families, and community agencies as an advocate for Aboriginal students

My role is to increase a sense of belonging, improve academic success, and enhance leadership skills for our Indigenous students, and expand Indigenous awareness for all students. My vision for Indigenous students is to have a balance between academic performance and Indigenous culture and identity that will foster the value of life long learning.
