Dà-ń-chʼe?Áyįzhì Natasha ùye. Hello, my name is Natasha Rainkie and I am a member of Khanjet (Crow Clan) of the Kluane First Nation. Our traditional territory rests along the Kluane Lake in the Yukon and we are descendants of Southern Tutchone speakers. I’ve spent most of my life living on the traditional territory of the Stó:lō Nation in Chilliwack, where I had the privilege of birthing my two beautiful children and marrying my husband.

I began my education journey in 2007 and through the peaks and valleys my passion for Indigenous education became clear. I am a secondary teacher with my teachables being in the social studies curriculum. One of my favourite aspects of teaching is to find ways to weave story, culture, and Indigenous ways of knowing/being within the curriculum, to help students discover their unique identity within their learning journey.

My family and I are new to the Comox Valley, and we are so grateful to be guests living on the incredibly beautiful, traditional unceded territory of the K’ómoks First Nation. One of my favourite ways to connect with others is through storytelling or laughter, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you are looking for either. If you would like to connect please feel free to email me at natasha.rainkie@sd71.bc.ca.

Shä̀w níthän – Gilakas’la – Thank You.
