Food Programs

The front door and the concession are open at 8:20. Breakfast is available for everyone. (e.g. yogurt, applesauce, fruit, cereal, etc.)

Please ensure that your child has a water bottle and brings it to school daily.

We are excited to be back and offering a pay-what-you-can model for the lunch program again this year. The funding is not unlimited, so we please ask you to pay the full $4 if you’re able. Please see Jaclyn or Marisol in the kitchen with any questions on ingredients or allergens.

Breakfast this year will be by donation. To keep offering the selection of healthy fruit, eggs, cereal, smoothies and yogurt, we need a little boost and appreciate any amount families can contribute.

FAQs

What is a Universal Lunch Program?

A universal lunch program ensures all students have access to nourishing food, supporting better learning outcomes, focus and overall well-being. By offering meals to all students, the program reduces stigma, encourages students to try new foods and promotes food equity across the school community.

How will it work at Lake Trail?

Monthly menus will be posted online around the middle of the previous month. Families can log into their existing Munch a Lunch account (or create a new one), select the meals their student would like, make a payment at their discretion, and that’s it! Meals will be delivered directly to students in their classrooms on the days they’ve ordered. If you need support to place an order, please contact Tamara Cairns.

How does Pay-What-You-Can work?

Payments are anonymous. All orders are processed together, and we only see the total amount collected – not individual payment amounts. While recovering food costs will support the long-term sustainability of the program, the amount you choose to pay is entirely at your discretion.

Do I have to pay with a credit card?

Yes, currently, we can only accept online orders paid by credit card. If using a credit card is a barrier, you can select $0.00 as your payment amount.
