Here are the details for the Cross Country race at Airport Elementary Wednesday, October 16th.
Airport Elementary School Cross Country Race Details:
Date: Wednesday October 16th, 2024
Time: 3:15pm -4:30pm
- Coaches’ meeting @ 3:15
- Race start @ 3:30
Where: school field behind Airport Elementary, Oceanspray Road side of the school
What: Cross- country running for grades 3-7
Parking: Limited parking in the school parking lots. Parent drivers can park along Salmonberry Drive and Oceanspray Road, not on the curve of Salmonberry (well marked). Glacier Gardens Arena is a short walk to the school and has plenty of parking as well.
All drivers should be aware that we have a very vigilant Military Police presence; full 3 second stops at stop signs and the 30km speed limit are strictly enforced.
Start line is on the back field of Airport Elementary. Spectators and team areas are also at the back field.
Finish line is on the South field at the front of the school.

Grade 3 Length 1.58km
Grades 4-7 Length 2.7km
3:30 Race starts
Grade 3 boys and girls
Grade 7 boys and girls
Grade 4 boys and girls
Grade 5 boys and girls
Grade 6 boys and girls
Other notes:
- Some trail sections are slippery with roots and rocks.
- Due to narrow trail sections, runners must slowdown in certain areas for safety. Course marshals will be at intersections to direct runners on the course.
- Forest trails can be narrow and passing is not possible in certain areas. Please review trail etiquette and good sportsmanship with runners.
- The course will be marked with spray paint and flagging tape.
- Coaches- Label students’ grade on masking tape and place on their singlet
- Grade 7 boys and girls will run together depending on numbers.
- Depending on numbers Grade 6 boys and girls may run together depending on numbers.
- Grades 3, 4, 5 will run separate boys’ and girls’ races.
