Parent Volunteer Information:
Many of our activities would not be able to happen without the help of volunteers. Thank you for your support! Volunteers must complete a criminal record form prior to volunteering. Also, by submitting a CRC request you agree to abide by the code of conduct
Criminal Record Check
As per School District Policy 6031MR2 all volunteers will be asked to complete a Criminal Record Check before they are able to drive, volunteer in the classroom, or participate in field trips. If you are thinking about volunteering at the school, please take the time to complete the Criminal Record Check process early in the school year. Criminal Record Checks are valid for 5 years once complete and will remain on file at the school. We use the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP) online service:

Driving for School
We rely on parent/caregiver volunteers to drive on many of our school field trips to keep our costs to a minimum.
Each year volunteer drivers need to submit:
All information should be sent by email to puntledge@sd71.bc.ca. Scanning documents or taking a picture will work to send via email.

The Weekly – Oct. 13-17, 2025
Hello, Bonjour, Gila’kasla
Another busy week is done! Our Grade 7 students had an incredible two-night camping trip at Horne Lake and made great memories together. Wishing all our Puntledge families a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Take time to relax, enjoy, and be thankful.
Open House/Salmon Day: A reminder to Families and Caregivers of our Open House on Thursday, October 16th from 2:00 to 2:30. Teachers and students are excited to showcase the learning environment and the journey for the year ahead. Our Open House is intended as a general overview of the classroom and not a personal interview with the teacher.
The 8th annual Salmon Day is right around the corner on October 16th! The event will take place from 2:30 to 4:00 on the school grounds Forest Side. There will be a handful of informative and interactive salmon related vendors and activities.
X-Country: The Puntledge race has been rescheduled to Monday, Oct. 27 starting at 3:30 PM. I need some volunteers at the finish line. Email me if you are available to assist. Thank you.
There is a race on Wed. Oct 15 @ 3:30 PM at Brooklyn Elementary. Those participating need to have their permission forms in to their coaches or the office by Tuesday, Oct 14. No Form=No Run. Races are for Gr. 3-7 students. Race order is Gr. 7,3,4,5,6 (girls then boys). A reminder parents are responsible for driving their students to and from the races.
Be Bear Aware: It’s that time of year again. Please be bear aware. Bears have been spotted in the forests near our school and toward Lake Trail. Remind your children to walk in groups, make noise on trails, and never approach or feed wildlife. We are sharing these reminders with students at school as well. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe.
Wacky Wheelie Wednesdays: Last session is Oct. 15. We’ll be back in the spring.
Hot Lunch Notice: If your child is away on a full-day field trip, please do not order a hot lunch for that day. They will not receive it, and lunches cannot be saved or held for later.
PAC: Meeting Oct. 15 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM in the school library. Parents planning on attending, there is a movie night for your children so you can be at the meeting 😊
Bus Lane: A friendly reminder the lane closest to the school is designated as a bus lane. Please do not park in this lane at any time. It must remain clear for buses to load and unload safely. Thank you for helping us keep our students and drivers safe during busy pick-up and drop-off times.
Criminal Record Checks: A reminder that all activities involving parent volunteers at the school require those volunteers to have a criminal record check on file with us. Please go to https://www.comoxvalleyschools.ca/ecole-puntledge-park-elementary/ and scroll down for the full details on how to submit.
Fire Prevention Contest: This year, the Fire Prevention Officers Association of British Columbia is excited to introduce a new initiative! They are launching a fire prevention quiz to engage the community in fire safety discussions. This online quiz, consisting of just 5 questions, is available to students and aims to spark conversations at home. Fire Prevention Week Contest
Book Fair: Our amazing PAC is hosting a Book Fair from November 17–21. It’s the perfect chance to spark your child’s love of reading, support our PAC, and maybe even get a head start on your holiday shopping. Come browse, buy, and bring home some new favourites! Hours of operation will be announced closer to the event.
