Calling all photographers and page-designers! Didn’t get into yearbook class but still really want to take photos or design pages? Join the yearbook club just by checking in with Ms. Mareck to pick-up a yearbook task which could be photography, pages design, advertising or even a bit of journalism.
Environmental Action Team (EAT)
Are you concerned about climate change? Do you want to take part in school and community actions to make our lives more sustainable? This is a great opportunity to get involved and make a difference! All grades welcome. Meeting are Mondays at lunch in room 337.
Open to all students Grades 8-12. Create beaded jewelry, appliques, and other decorative items. Learn about Indigenous and Metis beading styles.
This club will revitalize and maintain the gardens around Highland. We will learn basic gardening and composting techniques as we work towards creating a space that will support our Foods program.
Highland Indigenous Student Council
The council has been engaged in fundraising and helping to bring awareness to Indigenous issues that our students face. Some of the activities have included cultural awareness days, leadership at school wide assemblies, supporting elders in the community, supporting the Red Dress and Moosehide Campaign, Cultural Camps, supporting the Attiwapiskat crisis, promoting cultural pride and creating an inclusive setting for all students.
This is a Rotary affiliated club for Grade 8 – 12 students wanting to make a positive impact on the school, community, and world through service initiatives – one local and one Global . The club runs a variety of fundraisers and awareness campaign throughout the year.
Open to Grades 8-12, singing music in all styles, opportunities for solos, great training for Music Theatre
Queer-Straight Alliance (QSA)
Are you someone who identifies as Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Queer, Questioning, etc., and/or a straight ally who cares about acceptance and safer spaces in our school? Highland’s Queer-Straight Alliance (QSA) meets every Wednesday at the beginning of lunch in Room 125 . Come hang out, bring your lunch, and be a part of advocacy & events in our awesome community.
