Puntledge Archery Team – Competing in Provincials and having fun!

Over the past two months, all Grade 6 and 7 students at Ecole Puntledge Park had the opportunity to try archery with the National Archery in the Schools Program ( NASP.)

Students had two or three sessions in the school gym – converted to archery range and many got to try a sport that was entirely new to them.

Archery is safe, fun and is a sport that is very accessible.  It offers a level playing field, and lots of opportunity for personal growth.

Later, a team of dedicated Grade 7 archers attended many after school practice sessions to hone their skills for our second time participating in a Virtual Provincial Tournament.

Congratulations to the Grade 7 Archery Team for their hard work and dedication to developing their skills with bow and arrow these past weeks.  On May 2,  the team participated virtually in a Provincial Tournament.  Fourteen archers completed three rounds each at 10m and 15 meter distances.    We will find out our provincial results in the next couple of weeks.

A very special thank you to Lake Trail Community School for making this gear available.

The Puntledge Archery Team also submitted a 15 second video for a contest sponsored by the BC Wildlife Federation Youth organization.  There are two entries in the contest, and the submission receiving the most likes will win a box of arrows and a Genesis bow for the school.  You can support our school and help us win the contest!  Here is how:

You can visit the BCWF Youth Facebook page to find the post, to vote, and share it to increase your chances of winning. Voting will be open until 4:00 PM Pacific Time on Friday, May 13th
