PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS (From NIC website)
The Aircraft Structures Technician (AME-S) program consists of approximately 1,150 hours of shop and classroom instruction. You will learn about the basic theory of flight, aircraft systems, construction, and Transport Canada regulatory requirement
Upon successful completion of the program to required standards you will receive recognition by Transport Canada for training and technical tests required for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer–Structures (AME-S) licence. You will also receive an 11-month time credit toward the three-year requirement to complete your AME-S certifications while learning to build and repair aircraft structures. You will work with sheet metal, tubular, composite, wood and fabric structures to develop a strong skills and knowledge in all aspects of aircraft sheet metal work.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Qualify for high-demand jobs locally and around the world. Employment opportunities may include aircraft repair and servicing, aircraft manufacturing, composite component repair, aircraft parts manufacturing and aircraft parts technician, or gain advanced standing as an aircraft structures technician with the Canadian Forces.

How do I get started?
- Meet with the Career Teacher at your school
- Plan your Grade 11 & 12 classes
- Complete a SD71 District Train In Trades Application
- Meet with a Work Experience coordinator to set up a work experience placement
- Sign up for S.T.E.P.
- Apply for a Trades Sampler program
- Meet with your school counselor to ensure you are programmed into the right courses
