||Industry field trips to automotive, auto collision, motorcycle and heavy duty shops. There is a potential to also go see BCIT aerospace campus and Seaspan’s shipyard, both in the lower mainland.
NIC trade program sessions. Students may spend several days in the different NIC trades facilities working with NIC instructors.

The Transportation Trade Sampler is a cohort group immersion into the many careers related to the auto and transportation Industry. Students will explore interested career areas around the following trades: Auto Mechanics, Heavy Duty Mechanics, Marine mechanics, Aircraft mechanics. The course is mainly “hands on” by building skills, knowledge and the right attitude that employers are looking for.
There will be a focus on ITA essential skills, field trips to businesses that employ trades people, project building in the shop. Math will be interspersed with day to day learning. Electronics will be covered with relationship to the new trend to electric vehicles. This course is open to all grade 11 and 12 students in the Comox valley.

Below are 4 sample timetables showing the pathway and required courses needed between Grade 10 – 12 so a student could take the Transportation Trades Sampler Program in Grade 11 or Grade 12 followed by a North Island College Trades Program in their Grade 12 year or after Grade 12.
