Equity in Action
SD71 has completed its first Equity Scan of Indigenous students, staff, families and communities.
The survey creation, data collection methodology and follow up action items were directed by the Community Led Equity Scanning Team; an all Indigenous group consisting of Hereditary Chiefs, K’ómoks Chief and Council, Indigenous community leaders, the Indigenous Education Council, a trustee, school staff and students with First Nations, Inuit and Métis representation.
During the fall of 2026, all SD71 schools and district teams will have an opportunity to review the following video. This video shares the Equity in Action Report findings and calls upon all staff to engage in this important work. This video is an invitation to ongoing individual reflection, as well as small group, school-wide and district-wide conversations that will contribute towards an equitable education system for all students.
