Standing Committees

BOARD STANDING COMMMITTEES

Standing Committees support the Board of Education by providing opportunities for more detailed review, discussion, and consideration of matters before they are brought forward for Board decision. Committees help strengthen governance by allowing trustees to explore issues in greater depth, engage in dialogue with staff and partners, and develop informed recommendations.

Standing Committees do not make decisions on behalf of the Board. Their role is to review matters within their mandate and make recommendations to the Board of Education, which remains the district’s decision-making body.

Unless otherwise noted, Standing Committee meetings are open to the public and provide an opportunity to observe the Board’s governance process. The Standing Committee meeting schedule for the year is posted here.
