New Board of Education sworn in for Comox Valley Schools

Comox Valley Schools welcomed its new Board of Education on Tuesday, October 27, as seven trustees took their oaths of office at a swearing-in ceremony at the board office.

The board’s seven trustees are:
Chelsea McCannel-Keene – Trustee Electoral Area A
Michelle Waite – Trustee Electoral Area B
Nicole Bergot – Trustee Electoral Area C
Jennifer Fisher – Town of Comox
Laurel Rankin – Village of Cumberland
Shannon Aldinger – City of Courtenay
Kendall Packham – City of Courtenay

The Board of Education provides local governance for public education, including setting strategic direction, establishing policies and approving the annual budget. The board will hold its inaugural meeting on November 10 at 7 p.m. at the board office.

“We are excited to welcome the new Board of Education and look forward to working together in service of students, families, staff and communities throughout the Comox Valley,” said superintendent Dr. Jeremy Morrow. “Our shared focus remains on creating welcoming, inclusive and engaging learning environments where every student is supported to learn, grow and thrive.”
